Ray Charles Robinson (Albany, Georgia; 23 de septiembre de 1930-Beverly Hills, California; 10 de junio de 2004), más conocido como Ray Charles, fue un cantante, saxofonista y pianista estadounidense de soul, R&B. Entre sus amigos y músicos el prefería que le llamaran «Hermano Ray» Era frecuentemente referido como «El Genio». Charles comenzó a perder la visión a la edad de 5 años y a los 7 años era ciego. Fue pionero de la música soul durante los años 1950s por la combinación del blues, rhythm and blues y el estilo gospel dentro de la música que grabó para el sello Atlantic. Frank Sinatra llamó a Ray Charles: «El único verdadero genio en la industria musical», aunque Charles minimizó esta opinión.

Comenzó a perder la visión entre los 5 y 7 años de edad, cuando quedó ciego completamente, aparentemente a causa de un glaucoma, de acuerdo a la evaluación de los oftalmólogos de la época. Cuando todavía era un niño su familia se mudó a una comunidad de muy pocos recursos en Greenville, Florida, donde comenzó a mostrar su interés por la música. Desde 1937 y hasta 1945 tomó clases en la Escuela de Sordos y Ciegos de la Florida, en la ciudad de San Agustín, donde comenzó a desarrollar sus habilidades musicales. Aunque lo que más aprendía en la escuela era música clásica, mostró interés por el jazz y el blues cuando escuchaba la radio. A finales de la década de 1940, consiguió colocar un disco en las listas de su país, y en 1951 obtuvo su primer top ten, gracias a «Baby, Let Me Hold Your Hand». Fue criticado por cantar canciones góspel con letras populares, aunque hay una gran tradición al poner letras religiosas a canciones y viceversa. Thomas A. Dorsey, uno de los fundadores de la música góspel, que también tuvo una carrera significativa en la música popular. Solomon Burke y Little Richard incluso se movieron entre los dos estilos.
Se casó dos veces, la primera con Eileen Williams en 1951. En 1952 se divorciaron. La segunda vez contrajo matrimonio con Della Beatrice Howard Robinson en 1955. El matrimonio duró hasta 1977. Tuvo en total doce hijos de diez relaciones diferentes: Alfonsina Charles, Evelyn Robinson, Sheila Raye Charles, Ryan Corey Robinson, Robyn Moffett, Raenee Robinson, Vincent Kotchounian, David Robinson, Robert Robinson, Ray Charles Robinson, Jr., Charles Wayne Hendricks, Reatha Butler y Alexandra Bertrand.
Después de una aparición en el Newport Jazz Festival logró un éxito importante con «(The Night Time is) The Right Time» y su canción más popular de 1959 «What’d I Say». La esencia de esta fase de su carrera se puede escuchar en su álbum en vivo Ray Charles en Persona, grabado ante una gran audiencia afroamericana en Atlanta en 1959. De esta canción se derivaron una serie de versiones por diversos grupos de la época e inclusive en español.
Integró a su banda a las The Raelettes (Chicas de Ray), un grupo de tres chicas que ya antes se llamaban las Cookies. Así mismo, una cantante soprano extra llamada Mary Ann Fisher.
Comenzó a ir más allá de los límites de su síntesis blues gospel mientras seguía con Atlantic, que ahora lo llamaba El Genio. Grabó con muchas orquestas y muchos artistas de jazz como Milt Jackson e incluso hizo su primer cover de música country con el «I’m Movin’ On» de Hank Snow.

Narciso García Yepes (Lorca, 14 de noviembre de 1927 – Murcia, 3 de mayo de 1997), más conocido como Narciso Yepes, fue un músico español conocido mundialmente por su trabajo como guitarrista clásico español.

En 1947, interpretó en público por vez primera el Concierto de Aranjuez (de Joaquín Rodrigo), bajo las órdenes del director Ataúlfo Argenta, lo cual le mereció celebridad inmediata.
En 1951 vivió una conversión súbita al catolicismo: «Mi vida de cristiano tuvo un largo paréntesis de vacío, que duró un cuarto de siglo. Me bautizaron al nacer, y ya no recibí ni una sola noción que ilustrase y alimentase mi fe… Desde 1927 hasta 1951, yo no practicaba, ni creía, ni me preocupaba lo más mínimo que hubiera o no una vida espiritual y una trascendencia y un más allá. Dios no contaba en mi existencia. Pero… luego pude saber que yo siempre había contado para Él. Fue una conversión súbita, repentina, inesperada… y muy sencilla. Yo estaba en París, acodado en un puente del Sena, viendo fluir el agua. Era por la mañana. Exactamente, el 18 de mayo. De pronto, le escuché dentro de mí… Quizás me había llamado ya en otras ocasiones, pero yo no le había oído. Aquel día yo tenía «la puerta abierta»… Y Dios pudo entrar. No sólo se hizo oír, sino que entró de lleno y para siempre en mi vida… Fue una pregunta, en apariencia, muy simple: «¿Qué estás haciendo?» En ese instante, todo cambió para mí».
En 1952, según su propia declaración, rescató y recompuso una canción tradicional para guitarra: Romanza española (anónimo), pieza musical incluida en la película Juegos prohibidos (Jeux Interdits, del director René Clément, 1952).
En 1958 se casa con una joven polaca, estudiante de filosofía, llamada Marysia Szumlakowska; con la que tuvo tres hijos: Juan de la Cruz (muerto en un accidente a los 18 años), Ignacio Yepes (compositor, flautista y director de orquesta), y Ana Yepes (bailarina y coreógrafa).
En 1964, Yepes comienza a utilizar su creación: la guitarra de diez cuerdas, pues de ella obtenía mucho mejor resonancia y a la vez le facilitaba el tocar piezas de música barroca (originalmente escritas para laúd). Le incitó a la creación de esta nueva guitarra el desequilibrio sonoro debido a la falta de buena parte de los armónicos naturales en la guitarra de seis cuerdas.
El ingente repertorio de Narciso Yepes, aumentado por numerosas transcripciones de música de todas las épocas es, con seguridad, el más rico de todos los tiempos. La publicación de sus transcripciones y revisiones de partituras así como las múltiples grabaciones realizadas a lo largo de su carrera son referencia para estudiantes de guitarra de todo el mundo.
El 25 de abril de 1987 participó como solista junto a la Orquesta de València en el concierto inaugural del Palau de la Música de la ciudad del Turia, interpretando el Concierto de Aranjuez de Joaquín Rodrigo con Manuel Galduf a la batuta.2?
A partir de 1993, Narciso Yepes empezó a limitar sus apariciones públicas, debido a problemas de salud. Su último concierto fue en Santander, el 1 de marzo de 1996. Su gran trayectoria musical le hizo merecedor de multitud de premios y menciones. Murió en 1997 a causa de un cáncer linfático. Por voluntad propia sus cenizas fueron entregadas a la Comunidad de Monjas del monasterio de Santa María de Buenafuente del Sistal en la provincia de Guadalajara al que se sentía muy unido. Fue nombrado Amigo ilustre de Buenafuente.

Little Richard, nombre artístico de Richard Wayne Penniman, (Macon, Georgia, 5 de diciembre de 1932-Nashville, Tennessee, 9 de mayo de 2020) fue un cantante, compositor y pianista estadounidense de rock and roll. Considerado como uno de los pioneros más influyentes e importantes de aquel género y una figura influyente en la música y la cultura popular durante siete décadas.

Su trabajo más famoso data de mediados de la década de 1950, cuando su música dinámica y su carismático espectáculo sentaron las bases del rock and roll. Su música también jugó un papel clave en la formación de otros géneros musicales populares, como el soul y el funk. Influyó en numerosos cantantes y músicos de todos los géneros musicales, desde el rock hasta el hip hop; su música ayudó a dar forma al ritmo y al blues para las generaciones venideras, y sus actuaciones y titulares impulsaron su carrera directamente en la mezcla de la música popular estadounidense.
Ha sido honrado por muchas instituciones. Fue incluido en el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll como parte de su primer grupo de miembros en 1986.
