Steven Siro Vai (n. 6 de junio de 1960, Carle Place, Estados Unidos) es un guitarrista, compositor, y productor musical estadounidense que ha vendido más de 15 millones de álbumes.

Después de iniciar su carrera como transcriptor de música para Frank Zappa, Vai grabó y estuvo de gira en la banda de Zappa de 1980 a 1982. Comenzó su carrera como solista en 1983, tiene ocho álbumes en solitario y ha ganado tres premios Grammy. También ha grabado y realizado giras con Public Image Ltd, Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, y Whitesnake. Vai ha sido miembro regular del G3 tour que comenzó en 1995. En 1999, Vai comenzó su propio sello discográfico Favored Nations, con la intención de mostrar como él lo describe, “… a los artistas que han alcanzado el nivel de rendimiento más alto en sus instrumentos elegidos “. Pretenders – The

The Pretenders es un grupo anglo-estadounidense de rock alternativo que en sus comienzos (1978) formó parte de la llamada new wave. La banda se componía originalmente de su fundadora, compositora, guitarrista y vocalista Chrissie Hynde, el guitarrista James Honeyman-Scott, el bajista Pete Farndon y el batería Martin Chambers. Las muertes de Honeyman-Scott y Farndon por consumo de drogas malograron esta formación, y los múltiples cambios de músicos en los años posteriores han dejado a Chrissie Hynde como único miembro permanente y referente absoluto del grupo. La actividad pública de Hynde ha trascendido el terreno musical y se ha destacado como activista en favor de diversas causas. El grupo se hizo conocido por Don’t get me wrong y Back On The Chain Gang.

Como el resto de bandas encuadradas en el estilo new wave e inspiradas por tanto en el punk, The Pretenders reaccionaron contra los estilos predominantes en el rock durante la primera mitad de la década de 1970, caracterizados por la complejidad de los arreglos musicales y de los equipos de sonido, la exhibición del virtuosismo de los intérpretes o la edición de álbumes conceptuales. Como respuesta, The Pretenders y otras bandas retomaron el formato habitual de canción, renunciaron a la interpretación de largos solos instrumentales y, en general, adoptaron formaciones y emplearon instrumentos más tradicionales en el rock and roll.

Como inspiración acudieron, bien a fuentes alternativas de los años inmediatamente anteriores como el pub-rock —el grupo Rockpile y sus guitarristas Dave Edmunds y Billy Bremner, así como su bajista Nick Lowe, eran una influencia declarada de James Honeyman-Scott, o bien a otras comunes con sus compañeros de movimiento, como el beat británico de los años 60 incluyendo a los Beatles y, muy especialmente en su caso, a The Kinks.

Prefab Sprout es una banda de pop-rock británica que se formó en Durham (Reino Unido) en 1978 por los hermanos Paddy y Martin McAloon. Paul Young

Paul Antony Young (Luton, Bedfordshire, Inglaterra, 17 de enero de 1956) es un músico británico de pop.
Su primer gran éxito llegó con la canción en 1985: Everytime you go away (Cada vez que te alejas) que fue escrita originalmente por Daryl Hall. En 1991 cantó a dúo con el cantante italiano Zucchero la balada-pop Senza una Donna (Sin una mujer) que también fue un éxito. En 1992 participó en una de las tocatas punk en el New Mod (Londres) en el Tributo a Freddie Mercury junto con los miembros restantes de Queen interpretando la canción “Radio Gaga”.

Lanzó una colección de sus canciones más famosas. Sin embargo, su mayor popularidad la obtuvo haciendo nuevas interpretaciones de canciones conocidas como “Wherever I lay my hat (that’s my home”) de Marvin Gaye. Su último disco de versiones y canciones escritas por él se editó en 1997 bajo el título “Paul Young”.

En la actualidad participa regularmente en una serie de conciertos – nostalgia de los 80 en Gran Bretaña llamados “Here and Now” con estrellas del tipo Martin Fry (“ABC”), Peter Cox (Go West), Kim Wilde, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) y también participa en la SAS BAND formada por músicos británicos de los 70 y 80. Desde hace un tiempo milita en un grupo músico-vocal de rock “Tex-Mex” llamada Los Pacaminos junto con Jamie Moses, guitarrista que ha tocado como segunda guitarra de “The Brian May Band” y en las dos giras de “Queen + Paul Rodgers”

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, conocida por su acrónimo OMD (en castellano como Maniobras Orquestales en la Oscuridad) es una banda británica de synth pop y new wave.

El grupo fue fundado en la ciudad de Meols, Merseyside, en 1978 por Andy McCluskey (voz principal y bajo eléctrico) y Paul Humphreys (sintetizador, coros y, ocasionalmente, voz). Hasta 2017 han publicado 13 álbumes de estudio, aunque su canción más famosa, «Enola Gay», es un tema antibelicista publicado en 1980. Sin embargo, a pesar de su éxito local, a nivel internacional son mejor conocidos por su hit «If You Leave», No 4 en Billboard Hot 100 en 1986.

Nacha Pop

Nacha Pop es un grupo musical español de los años 80s, formado en medio de la entonces recién nacida movida madrileña. En su formación inicial participaron Antonio Vega y Nacho García Vega (guitarras y voces), Carlos Brooking (bajo) y Ñete (batería). Formado en 1978, tras desintegrarse el grupo Uhu Helicopter, se disolvió diez años más tarde, aunque en 2007 resurgieron hasta 2009, año de la muerte de Antonio Vega.

Nacha Pop publicó su primer disco, llamado como el grupo, en 1980. Fue producido por Teddy Bautista para Hispavox y grabado en los estudios de la compañía en la calle Torrelaguna de Madrid. El disco ya contenía el que sería el tema más conocido del grupo y una de las canciones más recordadas del pop español, Chica de ayer, compuesta por Antonio Vega.

El segundo disco, Buena disposición, grabado en 1982 y producido por ellos mismos, los certifica como uno de los grupos más punteros del panorama nacional, lo que los lleva a telonear a, entre otros, los Ramones o Siouxsie and The Banshees.

En 1983 firman con la discográfica DRO y editan el álbum Más números, otras letras, grabado por Jesus N. Gómez en el estudio Doublewtronics de Madrid, que incluía canciones como Luz de cruce o Agárrate a mi, y posteriormente un maxi-sencillo con el tema Una décima de segundo, otro de los temas estrella del grupo.

En 1985 fichan por una nueva discográfica, Polydor, en cuyos estudios de Madrid graban Dibujos animados. Con este álbum consiguen su primer número 1 en el programa radiofónico los 40 principales gracias al tema Grité una noche, compuesto por Nacho. Tras este trabajo, Ñete abandona el grupo por motivos personales y continua su trabajo de baterista con conocidos artistas de la escena española. En 2005 inicia el proyecto Sulivan.

En 1987 publican su siguiente trabajo, también con Polydor y con la producción de Carlos Narea, El momento, que contiene temas como Lucha de gigantes, No se acaban las calles, Vístete que alcanzó el número uno en las listas españolas o Persiguiendo sombras. Además de en España, el disco fue grabado también en Londres, Bruselas y Bochum.

En 1988 actúan en la Plaza de Toros México, en la Ciudad de México. Ese mismo año graban en la discoteca Jácara Plató de Madrid, en dos actuaciones, el disco en directo 80-88, que sirve como despedida del grupo y que se convertiría en el disco más vendido de la banda.

Tras la disolución del grupo, Nacho García Vega y Carlos Brooking forman, junto al bajista y productor Fernando Illán, el grupo Rico, que graba tres discos antes de su disolución. En 1995 y 2001, Nacho publica sendos trabajos en solitario.

Por su parte, Antonio Vega comienza una exitosa carrera como solista con las discográficas Pasión, Polydor y EMI-Capitol.

A finales del 2004 se edita en DVD el último concierto que diera la banda dieciséis años antes. También se reeditan en CD los discos Dibujos animados, El momento (nunca antes editado en CD) y 80-88.

El 8 de mayo de 2007, el grupo anuncia su regreso con una gira que comienza el 30 de junio en Ávila y termina el 26 de octubre en Madrid. La nueva banda está formada por Antonio Vega y Nacho García Vega acompañados por músicos con los que han tocado desde la disolución de Nacha Pop (Goar Iñurrieta -guitarra- , Fernando Illán -bajo-, Angie Bao -batería- o Basilio Marti y Nacho Lesco-teclados-).

En 2009 Nacho García Vega y Antonio Vega comienzan a grabar los temas de lo que sería el próximo álbum de estudio de Nacha Pop. Temas como “Hazme el favor”, quedan registrados para la posteridad ya que debido a la enfermedad de Antonio el álbum no llega a ser grabado por completo.

El 12 de mayo de 2009 fallece Antonio Vega Tallés a causa de un cáncer de pulmón que le habían diagnosticado pocos meses antes. Nacho García Vega, Ñete y Carlos Brooking se juntaron de nuevo como Nacha Pop en el concierto-homenaje a Antonio Vega el 9 de abril de 2010 en el Palacio de los deportes de Madrid.
