Roger Waters
George Roger Waters (Surrey, Reino Unido; 6 de septiembre de 1943) es uno de los cofundadores de la banda Pink Floyd, convirtiéndose tras la marcha de Syd Barrett en el compositor conceptual de la banda. Además de ser el bajista, fue uno de los cantantes y experimentó con sintetizadores, loops, guitarra eléctrica y acústica. Con él, Pink Floyd alcanzó éxito mundial en la década de 1970 gracias a sus álbumes conceptuales The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals y The Wall. En 1970, compuso en colaboración con Ron Geesin, Music from The Body, banda sonora del filme documental The Body, de Roy Battersby, sobre la biología humana. Grabó en estudio cuatro discos en solitario: The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking (1984), Radio K.A.O.S. (1987), Amused to Death (1992) y Is This the Life We Really Want? (2017). En 1986, contribuyó a la banda sonora de la película Cuando el viento sopla. En 1990, organizó uno de los conciertos con más asistencia de la historia, The Wall – Live in Berlin, con 300 000 espectadores.
En 1996, fue admitido en el Salón de la Fama del Rock de Estados Unidos y del Reino Unido como miembro de Pink Floyd. Desde 1999 ha hecho varias giras. Desde 1989 trabajó en la ópera Ça Ira, estrenada en 2005, pero que un año antes tuvo su prémiere en las celebraciones por el ingreso de Malta en la Unión Europea. Roger Waters, el más joven de dos hermanos, nació en Great Bookham, Surrey, hijo de Eric Fletcher Waters y Mary.? Su padre, nieto de un minero del condado de Durham y destacado líder del Partido Laborista, era maestro de escuela, cristiano devoto, pacifista y, más tarde, miembro del Partido Comunista de Gran Bretaña.? Waters asistió en Cambridge al Morley Memorial Junior School y después al Cambridgeshire High School para Chicos (renombrada como Hills Road Sixth Form College) donde conoció a Syd Barrett, mientras que otro de sus futuros compañeros musicales, David Gilmour, vivía cerca y asistía a The Perse School.
A los quince años presidió en nombre de Cambridge la Campaña Anual para el Desarme Nuclear (YCND, en inglés),? para la cual diseñó los pósteres publicitarios y participó en la organización. A pesar de ser buen deportista y un miembro destacado de los equipos de críquet y rugby,17? según Waters, a su experiencia educacional le faltaba algo:
… quitando los juegos, odiaba cada segundo. El sistema era muy estricto… los mismos chicos predestinados a ser intimidados por otros chicos, que también eran susceptibles a serlo por los profesores.
Mientras que Waters conoció a Barrett y Gilmour en Cambridge, a los otros dos fundadores de Pink Floyd, Nick Mason y Rick Wright, los conoció en la escuela de arquitectura de la Universidad de Westminster, Londres,? donde entró en 1962 después de realizar una serie de pruebas vocacionales, que dejaban entrever que podría ser un campo adecuado para él.

A la edad de diez años, Glover se mudó con su familia a Londres, ciudad en la que se empezó a interesar por el rock and roll, por lo que comenzó a tocar la guitarra. En el instituto formó su primera banda, Madisons, junto con algunos amigos, y que se acabó por fusionar con otra banda llamada Episode Six, el grupo en el que figuraba el posterior compañero de Glover en Deep Purple, el vocalista Ian Gillan. Ambos dejaron esta banda en 1969 para unirse a Deep Purple.

Robert Allen Palmer (Batley, 19 de enero de 1949-París, 26 de septiembre de 2003) fue un músico, productor, compositor y multinstrumentista británico. Inició su carrera con quince años en la banda The Mandrakes, con quienes teloneó los conciertos de artistas como Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac y The Who. Luego de un período con el grupo The Alan Bow Set (1969-1970), se unió a la agrupación de jazz rock Dada, que en 1971 se reestructuró para formar Vinegar Joe. Con dicha banda grabó tres álbumes de estudio hasta que optaron por separarse en 1974. En ese mismo año comenzó su carrera solista con el disco Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley, grabado con el apoyo de los músicos de The Meters y el guitarrista de Little Feat, Lowell George. Durante la segunda parte de la década de 1970 publicó cuatro producciones con las que obtuvo un parcial éxito comercial en el Reino Unido y los Estados Unidos. Después del lanzamiento de Clues (1980) y Pride (1983), participó en el supergrupo The Power Station que en 1985 editó su álbum debut homónimo. Su repentina popularidad los llevó a organizar una gira de conciertos, pero Palmer renunció días antes de que iniciara para enfocarse nuevamente en su carrera solista. En la segunda parte de la década de 1980 consiguió un importante éxito comercial en varios países con los discos Riptide (1985) y Heavy Nova (1988). Gracias a sus respectivos sencillos «Addicted to Love» y «Simply Irresistible», ganó en dos ocasiones el premio Grammy a la mejor interpretación vocal masculina y recibió tres nominaciones en los Brit Awards.
Sin embargo, paulatinamente este éxito decayó en la década siguiente en donde lanzó cuatro trabajos de estudio, con los que incursionó en otros estilos musicales tales como el hard rock, worldbeat o la música africana. De ellos destacó Ridin’ High (1992) considerado por el propio cantante como su único álbum conceptual. En 2001 participó en un disco tributo a Robert Johnson y trabajó como compositor para la banda sonora de la película The Yellow Bird, hechos que lo inspiraron para registrar un álbum orientado al blues titulado Drive (2003), que se convirtió inesperadamente en su última producción.
Robert Palmer falleció el 26 de septiembre de 2003 a causa de un infarto agudo de miocardio en París (Francia), mientras estaba hospedado en el hotel Warwick. Respetado por la crítica pero relativamente poco comercial, Palmer también fue conocido por su elegante forma de vestir ya que a diferencia de otros artistas de rock usaba trajes de diseñadores italianos. Debido a ello, la prensa británica lo apodó «The Hairdresser», el esteticista en español, e incluso la revista Rolling Stone lo nombró como el artista masculino mejor vestido en 1990.

No se sabe mucho de su historia personal, hasta que formó el grupo musical que lo llevaría a ser conocido en la escena mundial. Derivados de la escena punk de los años setenta, The Cars fue una banda new wave fundada en la ciudad de Boston, Estados Unidos, y cuya cara más visible fue Ocasek. The Cars fueron una de las primeras bandas en incursionar en la corriente pop de finales de los años setenta e inicios de los ochenta que fundía la guitarra con el incipiente sintetizador. Aunque Ocasek era la cara visible en los videos, Benjamin Orr era la presencia del grupo en los escenarios.
