Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye, nacido como Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. (Washington D. C., 2 de abril de 1939-Los Ángeles, 1 de abril de 1984), fue un músico, cantante y productor de soul, smooth soul, quiet storm, blaxploitation y uno de los componentes fundamentales del estilo Motown Sound. El cantante añadió la e al final de su apellido, Gay, en homenaje a su ídolo Sam Cooke, convirtiéndolo en Gaye, Se trata de uno de los grandes artistas de la música popular contemporánea.

Durante sus primeros años, llegó a ser conocido como «El Príncipe de Motown» y «El Príncipe del Soul», grabando numerosos hits de su época como «Pride and Joy», «Ain’t No Mountain High Enough», «How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)» y el número 1 en Estados Unidos y Reino Unido «I Heard It Through the Grapevine».
Pese a su éxito inicial, la carrera de Marvin Gaye se ve interrumpida tras resultar fuertemente afectado por la abrupta muerte de Tammi Terrell, su eterna compañera en los escenarios. Luego de un periodo de depresión (del que nunca salió por completo), intentó buscar una posición como receptor abierto en un equipo profesional de Fútbol Americano, los Detroit Lions, algo que finalmente no se le permitió por miedo a una posible lesión que afectara su carrera.
