Johnny J.R Cash (Kingsland, Arkansas; 26 de febrero de 1932-Nashville, Tennessee; 12 de septiembre de 2003) fue un cantante, compositor, guitarrista, actor y autor estadounidense. Considerado como uno de los m\u00fasicos m\u00e1s influyentes del siglo XX. Considerado el \u00abrey de la m\u00fasica country\u00bb y un icono de ese g\u00e9nero. Cantautor de country, gospel, rock and roll y rockabilly, fue y es uno de los m\u00e1ximos representantes de la m\u00fasica country, aunque cre\u00f3 su propio subg\u00e9nero musical.<\/p>\n

Cash fue conocido por su profunda voz, por el caracter\u00edstico sonido boom-chick-a-boom de su banda de acompa\u00f1amiento -los Tennessee Three-, y por vestir ropa oscura lo que le vali\u00f3 el apodo de \u00abEl Hombre de Negro\u00bb (\u00abThe Man in Black\u00bb). Era muy t\u00edpico de \u00e9l empezar todos sus conciertos con la sencilla frase: \u00abHola, soy Johnny Cash\u00bb (\u00abHello, I’m Johnny Cash\u00bb).<\/p>\n

Muchas de las canciones de Cash como \u00abI Walk The Line\u00bb, \u00abFolsom Prison Blues\u00bb, \u00abMan in Black\u00bb tratan temas como la pena, la culpa, las tribulaciones morales y la redenci\u00f3n, una tendencia que se acentu\u00f3 en la \u00faltima etapa de su carrera. Pero tambi\u00e9n compuso muchas canciones humor\u00edsticas (como \u00abOne Piece At A Time\u00bb, \u00abThe One On The Right Is On The Left\u00bb y version\u00f3 \u00abA Boy Named Sue\u00bb, canci\u00f3n de Shel Silverstein), llenas de vitalidad (\u00abGet Rhythm\u00bb) o con otras tem\u00e1ticas t\u00edpicas del country como el ferrocarril (\u00abThe Rock Island Line\u00bb o la famosa \u00abOrange Blossom Special\u00bb). Curiosamente, algunos de sus temas m\u00e1s conocidos son versiones de otros artistas, pero versionadas con un estilo propio y que lleva su sello por todas partes como es el caso de \u00abHurt\u00bb (de Nine Inch Nails), Personal Jesus de Depeche Mode, One de U2, o el tema grabado junto con Joe Strummer, \u00abRedemption Song\u00bb, que Bob Marley hab\u00eda compuesto poco antes de su muerte.<\/p>\n

Vendi\u00f3 cerca de noventa millones de \u00e1lbumes en sus casi cincuenta a\u00f1os de carrera. Es presentado habitualmente como uno de los m\u00fasicos m\u00e1s importantes en la historia de la m\u00fasica country.
